Sandpaper

Aluminium-oxide sandpaper cut from the roll, sold by the half-metre or the metre in six grits. Work down through the grits rather than jumping — going straight from coarse to fine leaves scratches the fine paper cannot remove, and they show up the moment the finish goes on.
