The small canister that strikes a fluorescent tube. When a tube flickers and will not light, this is almost always the part that has failed — not the tube.

• Check before ordering: S10 covers 4–65 W single-tube fittings; S2 is for 4–22 W and for twin-tube series wiring. They are not interchangeable.
